Tamil rural comedy entertainer ‘Modha Rathiri’ is set to make its digital debut soon. The OTT release comes a few weeks after its theatrical debut on August 21. As per the official announcement, the film will begin streaming on Netflix from September 18 in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The digital premiere is expected to give ‘Modha Rathiri’ a fresh reach among audiences who could not watch the film in theatres. The movie has drawn attention for its straightforward storytelling and rural backdrop. National Award-winning actor and filmmaker Dhanush also gave it a big push by praising the film and its team. His appreciation was notable as the project marks the early journey of several newcomers in the industry.

Dhanush recently shared his thoughts about ‘Modha Rathiri’ on X and urged families to watch the film. “#ModhaRathri is such a heartwarming film. Have to applaud this wonderful effort by a bunch of first-timers. Please don’t miss it in theatres with your families,” he wrote. He also tagged director Raja Karuppasamy and lead actors Rishikanth and Anishma Anilkumar in his post. Before Dhanush, actors Silambarasan TR and RJ Balaji had also shown their support for the film and its team.

Directed by debutant Raja Karuppasamy, ‘Modha Rathiri’ revolves around a village wedding that turns into an unexpected night filled with comedy, confusion, and emotions. The story unfolds over a single night, with one incident leading to another. Rishikanth, making his debut as a hero, plays Maruthanayagam, while Anishma Anilkumar appears as Muthuselvi.The cast also features Chetan, A Venkatesh, Bucks, Abdool Lee, Shelly Kishore, Sangeetha Balan, Banupriya and Sumithra Devi. Surendran Paranjothi handled cinematography, Ashok Arjunan worked as the editor, and Bharath Sankar composed the music.
