They say every house comes with its own story, and Brad Pitt’s former LA mansion was no different, except for one thing: this tale had supernatural characters. In 1994, Brad Pitt bought a beautiful Los Angeles mansion, and its history was not limited to architectural marvels. According to the former owner of the house, the one who sold the mansion to Brad Pitt, confessed that the property was HAUNTED! Interestingly, the ‘F1’ fame actor wasn’t kept in the dark and was told about the spooky reputation of the house. However, it seems Pitt doesn’t scare easily; if anything, it made him fall more for the LA mansion.

What is the story behind Brad Pitt’s ‘haunted’ Los Angeles mansion?

Pitt reportedly bought the LA mansion for $1.7 millions. Before Brad Pitt, the mansion was owned by Cassandra Peterson, best known as ‘Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.’ While speaking to PEOPLE in an old interview, Elvira shared that she warned Brad Pitt about the haunted mansion, but the actor was ‘very excited’ and, if anything, he ‘loved it.’“We were just kind of warning him that a lot of weird things have been going on there in the house since we moved in,” Elvira said before sharing, “And he was very excited about that. He thought that was really cool.”Elaborating further, she explained what she experienced at the house. “I’ve seen people walking around upstairs, for example, real people just walking. One time [a ghost was] sitting downstairs in front of the fireplace, once walking into my bedroom and back out,” she recalled.“We saw a person floating around at the bottom of the pool, things like that,” Elvira said, sharing another incident. She knew her reputation always entered the room before her, and thus, she added, “”I know that sounds nutty. I’m Elvira. I know you expect that from me, right? I don’t have hallucinations, I wasn’t high and I can’t explain those things.”According to Elvira’s account, she and her ex-husband, musician Mark Pierson, experienced paranormal activities soon after they moved into the 29-room mansion. They called a priest to do an exorcism. “I had all kinds of things because it was really getting to a point of like, ‘I don’t know if I can continue to live here,’” she said.

Why did Brad Pitt purchase a haunted house?

The ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ actor loved the architectural beauty of the place, and perhaps that is why he didn’t let the spooky tales scare him away. Elvira recalled, “So we were telling Brad all about that, and he loved it. I mean, there are not many buyers who that would be a selling point for, but he was like, ‘Oh, that’s so awesome.’ I love that he appreciated the house so much. We got together like three times, I think, before he bought the house.According to Elvria, Brad Pitt was just the perfect buyer for the house because, “he’s so interested in architecture and this house is just an exquisite house.” The actor was in love with the solid mahogany wall panels and copper ceilings of the living room and dining room. He couldn’t get over them. If you ignore the supernatural squatters, “It was just a stunning house”.

Brad Pitt sold his ‘haunted’ house for $ 39 million

The house was in rough condition, and thus, after the purchase, Brad Pitt made many renovations and even expanded the house by adding a new base. After all the redevelopment, in 2023, Brad Pitt sold the house. He had the ownership of it for nearly three decades. He was trying to unload the 1.9-acre property off-market for about $40 million.
